I authored the introductory essay and edited ‘The Edge of Language’, a reader to accompany the Patron Edition of Sam Winston’s ‘Delicate Sight’. The edition celebrates engagement with Winston’s project A Delicate Sight, and helps to fund further public engagement. It contains a folio of prints, a unique hand-drawn book cover created by Winston in the dark, and the accompanying reader featuring the essay and a conversation between Winston and Raymond Antrobus, Bernardine Evaristo, Don Paterson and Max Porter.
‘A Delicate Sight’ (2021) marked the culmination of Winston’s exploration of darkness as a creative practice and includes the drawings he created during his month-long residency, and the writings of Antrobus, Evaristo, Paterson and Porter, which were inspired by their own darkness residencies.
