The Gourmand’s Lemon

I am delighted to have contributed several essays to the forthcoming book, The Gourmand’s Lemon – A Collection of Stories and Recipes (out next month, March 2024). I’ve written about lemons in art, from the Northern Still Life tradition to Matisse’s paintings; modern and contemporary art; botanical drawings and Joseph Beuys’s iconic Capri-Batterie. The book is an in-depth exploration of the literary, linguistic, historic, and gastronomic legacy of lemons, where the line between food and art is happily blurred.
